Ahmed Gadalla, Chairman of SULB, added, “This investment will position Libya as a key player in global steel production and significantly impact green steel and decarbonization.” The complex will incorporate technology to operate using hydrogen, supplying hot briquetted iron for the nearby region and Europe.
The facility will have a total capacity of 8.1 million tons. Tosyali has initiated ground investigation and engineering works and will commence construction and assembly for the first phase of the integrated iron and steel complex shortly. The first phase will have a capacity of 2.7 million tons.
