We have developed a dynamic cable system that stably transmits electric power from floating offshore wind turbines to a substation on land, and tested it in a demonstration project led by the Japanese Ministry of the Environment.
Offshore wind power generation has two variations in installation configuration (see Fig. 1). In Japan, floating offshore wind power generation (in which the wind power generation equipment is designed to float on the sea) has been the focus of research and development efforts.
