Indonesia’s state-owned utility and battery producer have launched a 5MW battery energy storage system (BESS) pilot project as it seeks to move away from diesel-generated power.
The agreement was made with other state-owned bodies, such as the Indonesian Battery Corporation, to build the Battery Energy Storage System by 2022. However, no information has yet been revealed about the Battery Energy Storage System’s location or specific functions.
The Indonesian state-owned utility PLN has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Indonesia Battery Corporation (IBC) to build a 5 MW battery energy storage system (BESS) pilot project this year, as the country shifts from diesel-generated power to renewable energy.
