MANILA – Globe Telecom, Inc. has rolled out an additional 235 new 5G sites in key cities nationwide, boosting 5G coverage in these areas to about 98 percent. In a statement on Wednesday, Globe said 5G coverage has expanded to 98.71 percent of Metro Manila and 97.97 percent in key cities in the Visayas and Mindanao in the first quarter of 2025.
In February 2021, Nokia had announced that it was selected by Globe Telecom for a three-year deal to upgrade its existing 4G network, as well as expand the geographical reach of its 5G network at over 1,000 sites in the Philippines. That deployment covered the second and third largest islands of Mindanao and Visayas and began in 2021.
In a statement on Wednesday, Globe said 5G coverage has expanded to 98.71 percent of Metro Manila and 97.97 percent in key cities in the Visayas and Mindanao in the first quarter of 2025. “This means faster, more reliable connections for millions of Filipinos who use their mobile phones anywhere from work to entertainment.
