High-capacity, low-cost alkaline metal aqueous redox flow batteries (ARFBs) are of great significance for large-scale energy storage. Among them, tin-based flow batteries have attracted increasing interest in recent years due to their high solubility of active materials and the advantages of less dendrite formation.
Aqueous redox flow battery (ARFB) are attracting increasing attention for large-scale energy storage due to their high safety, long cycle-life, design flexibility and deep-discharge capability. However, the low operating voltage and modest solubility of redox species give ARFBs low energy density, presently limiting their applications.
Here we report a new ferri/ferrocyanide – polysulfide (Fe/S) redox flow battery based on highly soluble aqueous redox materials of the alkali metal ferri/ferrocyanide at the positive side and the alkali metal polysulfide at the negative side.
Therefore, it is urgent to develop high-safety energy storage devices. Redox flow batteries (RFBs) stand out as promising candidates for storing massive energy owing to their intrinsically high safety, deep charge/discharge, flexible design, and independent energy and power [, , , , ].
